Stage 4 water restrictions

So on the radio today it said that as of the start of November the area that we're staying, the Grampians, will be under stage 4 water restrictions because there's been this mad drought, no rain over the winter and now we're going into summer, all the dams are empty and the farmers haven't got any water!!

What that means for your average joe is that you can hardly use any water i.e. no watering gardens which is the usual no washing cars only 1 bucket of water to clean windscreens and lights, sporting grounds can't water so all the sports fields & golf courses won't get watered and kids can't even use their water pistols or they'll get in trouble!!

The restrictions go onto to stage 5 but i don't know what they do then maybe stop people flushing the toilet or washing dishes, I don't know!

Just thought it was a little weird!

Worst Drought Ever!!

Alright there,

So we've made it back to Melbourne and literally since we got off the plane we started work, not hard work, but still work. We started off doing some painting and what not at our bosses old house that he's getting ready to sell and entertaining their 2 young kids, i don't know how many more picture books i can read!!

Just now we're staying in a place called Great Western about 200k North West of Melbourne, we're staying with the bosses brother Steve and we're about to finish off work renovating a house just down the road. The boss has got a fair bit of work lined up that fingers crossed will keep us busy until we leave oz.

Got plans to go into the city the weekend after next to meet up with the boys who are down from Sydney for the Melbourne Cup so that should be pretty "interesting" a wee reunion! Other than that me and Dave are just keping our heads down working away. Oh yeah we had to buy work clothes the other day as we'd thrown them all out thinking that we were leaving the country and i made the impressive purchase of a pack of 3 wifebeaters, thats right 3 white wifebeaters i look good in them let me tell you!!

Anyways better go as about to get tea and my stomachs grumbling like mad

Cheers

Staying a bit longer

Hello there,

Well we've left Cairns and have been in Brisbane for the past week and half, staying with Dave's folks who have been kind enough to put me up.

Brisbane has been banter, went to Dreamworld like Alton towers but not as many rides, although there was one called the Giant Drop which had a 120m drop "The Giant Drop is the tallest free-falling ride in the world according to the Guiness Book of World Records."

As some of you might know, after much deliberation & a lot of pressurising from team ireland we've decided to stay a bit longer in Australia, we're going to do our full year here, which was my plan in the first place, then go back home through asia with the irish!!

We've had to cancel the Singapore to Heathrow part of our flight as it will expire so we have to buy a ticket from Bangkok home but that's not bad as we go to back to melbourne on Monday, can't wait to be in Melbourne again, to start work with our old boss Rod.

So from now on i'm going to be on the save to pay for flights and all the rest until we leave on the 31st of January then we should be home at the end of April/start of May.

The decision was a bit of a difficult one seeing as i am on the low side of cash but the thought of going home to search for work as opposed to going to Melbourne to do a job i enjoy didn't really weigh up and if i did go home i'd have ended up regretting not staying.

I suppose christmas might be a bit hard without the family and all the banter with the boys that i was really looking forward to but its only an extra 4 months till we're back in the sneck.

Anyway i'm off to phone qantas to get my flight itenary sent to my e-mail which they forgot to do, i'll fire up another update when we're down in Melbourne next week some time in the mean time drop me an e-mail or leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

Cheers
